A Commitment to Excellence
The National Centre of Excellence – NCoE trains young recruits and cadets to be Law Enforcement officers with the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary RPNGC. Training for Recruits starts with Community Policy, Investigation and Prosecution.
Cadets officers training takes up to three years, where two years is conducted in PNG and the third year in Australia. First year training covers basic recruits training, second year covers management and the third year covers mainly, command and control.
New Recruits coming to NCoE Bomana for the first time must have with them the following Documents;
1. Original Grade 12 Certificates
2. Original Grade 10 Certificates
3. NID Cards and or Birth Certificates
4. Medical Clearance
5. Physical Clearance
6. Police Clearance
Cadet Officers - First Year
Year one Cadet Officers (CO) go through Basic Police Recruit Training where they cover Community Policing, Prosecution & Investigations.
Cadet Officers - Second Year
Year two, Cadet Officers (CO) cover Management Skills such as Station Management, Values & Ethics, Managing People at the Workplace etc.
Cadet Officers - Third Year
Year three, Cadet Officers (CO) cover training mainly under Command & Control; Operational Planning, Coordination and Command etc.
Drill Sessions
All Recruits & Cadets go through parade drills to prepare them to be members of the discipline forces.
Probational Constables
Recruits after passing out of the Bomana National Center of Excellence (NCoE) they are posted to Police Stations around the country to do their probational training. They will be known as PC Constables whilst undergoing this pace of their training. After successfully completing their training and exam they become constables.
